WPGI Women’s League

The Women’s Pro Gaming Invitational (WPGI) was launched in 2017 by the Australian Esports Media Group as a dedicated female esports league, initially featuring six all-female teams competing in CS:GO with a $10,000 prize pool — and notably became the first league in the Oceanic region to feature match payments to players as part of the prize pool.

The goals of the league were to help develop the future careers of female gamers, offering more opportunities, growing diversity, and promoting the advancement of female players in the esports industry.

As Event Director, James led the conception and delivery of the league from the ground up. In his own words at launch: "For many years Oceania has been behind the global esports curve, but today we start to change that. Through WPGI we hope to set the standard for leagues not just here in Oceania, but worldwide."
